NetworkHub: Visa VROL, Mastercom and debit network integration

Chargebacks, fraud reports and case filings go to the networks from inside the case. Nothing is re-keyed into a network portal. NetworkHub is part of AdjustmentHub.

The case is joined through NetworkHub to Visa VROL and back.

The diagram lists the networks that run a dispute platform. ACH, Zelle, wire, bill pay, cheque and installment disputes run on the same engine under their own rules; see the AdjustmentHub page.

Lean integrates with the networks' dispute platforms. Nothing on this page implies endorsement by a network.

Where NetworkHub sits

How NetworkHub works

Why it exists

A dispute desk does not choose the rail. Card, debit, ACH, Zelle, wire and cheque claims arrive at the same desk, under different rules and different clocks, and the desk is accountable for all of them. AdjustmentHub runs them on one engine. NetworkHub is the part that talks to the networks.

NetworkHub is part of AdjustmentHub, not a separate purchase.

How cases move

Chargebacks, pre-arbitrations and arbitrations move between the case and Visa VROL, Mastercom or the connected debit networks from inside the workflow, so the team works cases rather than portals. Every network has its own message formats, rules and release cycle. NetworkHub handles the communication and formatting so the dispute workflow does not have to.

What Lean maintains

When a network changes its rules, Lean updates NetworkHub and AdjustmentHub. Your deployment stays current through each network's release cycle without work from your IT team.

What moves through NetworkHub

  • Dispute initiation and rights validation against network rules
  • Fraud reporting into the network databases from the case record
  • Chargeback submission, second presentment and representment response
  • Case filing and arbitration with the documentary record attached
  • Pre-dispute collaboration through Ethoca Alerts and Verifi CDRN
  • Transaction research and exception lookups through TREP, for the switch platforms that support it
  • Settlement of STAR network chargeback credits and debits through FIS Data Navigator

Built one network at a time, since 2016

  • 2016: Visa VROL integration for digital case submission to Visa's global disputes platform.
  • 2017: Verifi CDRN. Mastercom integration begins, replacing Mastercard's legacy case filing.
  • 2018: Full Mastercom adoption as Mastercard moves to digital-first dispute handling, issuer and acquirer.
  • 2019: Ethoca Alerts. First straight-through processing deployment, automated provisional credit through to chargeback submission.
  • 2022: NYCE network integration for ATM disputes.
  • 2023: Pulse PDS API integration.
  • 2025: FIS Data Navigator integration for STAR network chargebacks. TREP integration for real-time transaction lookup on the Northeast and EPOC switch platforms.

Frequently asked questions

What is NetworkHub?

NetworkHub is the integration layer inside AdjustmentHub. It standardises communication with the card and debit networks' dispute platforms so chargebacks, fraud reports and case filings move to and from Visa VROL, Mastercom and the connected debit networks from inside the dispute workflow.

Which networks does Lean connect to?

Visa VROL, Mastercom, Mastercom Extended, Pulse PDS and STAR TREP run as real-time connections. NYCE, STAR IAF and FIS Data Navigator run as batch connections. Ethoca Alerts and Verifi CDRN carry pre-dispute collaboration.

Does Lean support card schemes other than Visa and Mastercard?

Yes, through NetworkHub. Connections are added one network at a time, and a new integration is scoped and sized before it is committed. Status is published when a certification completes, never before.

What happens when a network changes its rules?

When a network changes its rules, Lean updates NetworkHub and AdjustmentHub, instead of each institution maintaining its own integration.

Do the payment networks build their own dispute platforms?

They do, and each resolves disputes under its own network's rules. A dispute desk answers for more than one: card chargebacks arrive alongside debit, ACH, Zelle, wire and cheque claims. AdjustmentHub works all of them on one engine, and NetworkHub connects it to Visa VROL, Mastercom and the connected debit networks. Lean has no network of its own.

What does NetworkHub do that a network portal does not?

A portal is a separate place to work. NetworkHub brings the network into the case, so filing, updating and resolving happen on the case record with the documentary trail attached, without re-keying and without staff holding two systems open. One auditable path, one place the evidence lives.
